MSNBC star Rachel Maddow accused of deceiving viewers by glossing over Trump Jr. blocked call reports

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow was called out by a media watchdog group for deceiving viewers when she failed to mention details of reports seemingly clearing Donald Trump Jr. of suspicions that he made phone calls to President Trump around the time of the Trump Tower meeting with Russians in June 2016.

Mediaite’s Caleb Howe penned an opinion piece on Monday headlined, “Rachel Maddow’s narrative on Don Jr.’s ‘blocked calls’ disappeared. She forgot to tell her audience.”

Howe explained that Maddow and “many of her guests” were wildly suspicious about whether or not the president’s oldest son spoke to his father after the Trump Tower meeting.

“She wondered hard, breathlessly. Rife with implication did she wonder, and heavily hanging the implied conclusion of collusion upon it,” Howe wrote. “But the assumption turned out not to be the case.”
This is utter and complete BS.

I record two different shows on MSNBC. One is Deadline White House with conservative host Nicole Wallace and the other is the Rachael Maddow for her more left leaning perspective. I've seen virtually every show of Rachel Maddow over the last six months and she's never implied that the blocked calls were with President Trump. She's even pointed out that if the calls were to his father it didn't indicate that they were discussing the meeting at Trump Tower. That's never been a focus on any of her shows and she's barely mentioned the blocked calls at all except to say that the Mueller investigation is presumably looking into them.

That we now have information on who the calls were to has no importance on whether President Trump was informed about the meeting in advance and all indications are that he was. There may not be conclusive proof of that but it's so unlikely that Trump Jr didn't discuss something this huge with his father are implausible.

The Trump campaign was well aware of the fact that Russian intelligence had stolen emails related to Hillary Clinton. That was why Trump Jr had stated, "If it's what I think it is, I love it" when the meeting was proposed.

President Trump even claimed he was going to provide information that was eventually revealed by those emails the day before the meeting at Trump Tower. When the Russians didn't hand over the emails directly to the campaign Trump managed to "forget" about the disclosures he promised to make to the American people.

The phone calls had virtually nothing to do with whether President Trump knew about the meeting.

What does matter is the fact that the meeting was about then candidate Trump lifting economic sanctions if elected in return for Russia's assistance in getting elected. Trump has been committed to lifting sanctions against Russia since being elected. We know that as a fact because of the Flynn calls to the Russian ambassador in late December 2016 before Trump even took office. We know that one of Trump's first initiatives was to have the State Department look into coming up with reasons to lift economic sanctions on Russia. We know Trump was outraged when Congress forced him to impose more sanctions and that he pushed the limits on not following the Congressional mandate to impose more sanctions. Trump has been successful in lifting sanctions against Oleg Daripaska. We know that Daripaska was involved in the Russian meddling in the 2016 election and that Daripaska was given privileged campaign information by Trump's campaign director, Paul Manafort.

The fact that Rachael Maddow never placed any real importance on the blocked phone calls to begin with also addresses why there was no need for her to address the fact that the Senate had learned who they were to. It was "big news" for Trump supporters but it was no news to those actually addressing evidence in the Russian investigation. The blocked phone calls didn't have any significance to begin with.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.
