Default Re: Russia a "second-rate" power?

Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia are no longer ruled by Russia and are now members of NATO as well as the European Union
The former communist Nation of East Germany is now united with West Germany.
Much of the rest of Eastern Europe is no longer communist.
The Ukraine is attempting to join the European Union.
Russian troops were forced out of Afghanistan.
So in those ways compared to what it once was I think that Russia has lost much of the power it once had when it was the USSR.
