I want to say it's about goals.

Dogs have evolved to essentially serve humans (figuratively speaking).
There's even an article (paraphrasing loosely from memory) that had a test and the dogs were held back from doing better on that specific test because they kept looking for human validation of their status / progress. (I'm referencing the second test.)

Cats on the other hand have evolved to get humans to serve them.
Goal achieved. Time for a nap...
