Many animals are sensitive to people's medical conditions naturally, and many can be trained to alert for them. They are truly our 'companions'.

Strangely enough, my cat will wake me up if (not all the time, but too many times for it to be coincidence) my blood sugar goes too low. Since sweating is part of the 'going low' process, perhaps he smells something off, and decides he needs to wake me.
