Alaska Just Set a New Wind Chill Record ? Care to Guess How Cold It Is? |

The National Weather Service announced on Saturday that a new Alaska wind chill record of -97 degrees had been set Friday, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

“Mother Nature has a cold heart this Valentine’s Day,” the NWS wrote on Facebook.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the wind chill was recorded at Howard Pass with a temperature of -42 degrees and sustained wind of 71 mph.

The weather service warned that in such cold temperatures, frostbite can occur in just minutes if individuals fail to cover exposed skin.
