What?!?!?!...

First, they've had ONE song in the last 6 years that did anything...Considering they had FOURTEEN in the 5 years before the remarks, if you call that a rebound, then I suggest you call Webster's and have them change the definition...

Second, as far as "getting bigger audiences...well...you be the judge...From Billboard...

Out-of-the-gate ticket sales for the Dixie Chicks' upcoming Accidents & Accusations tour are far below expectations and several dates will likely be cancelled or postoned.

Initial ticket counts for the 20-plus arena shows that went on sale last weekend were averaging 5,000-6,000 per show in major markets and less in secondaries, according to sources contacted by Billboard. Venue capacities on the tour generally top 15,000.

In contrast, the band's new album, "Taking the Long Way," sold 526,000 units in its first week, according to Nielsen Soundscan, the third largest sales week of 2006. The album remains No. 1 on The Billboard 200 this week.

Despite those numbers, early ticket sales are clearly not meeting projections. The plug was pulled on public on-sales for shows in Indianapolis (Aug. 23), Oklahoma City (Sept. 26), Memphis (Sept. 27) and Houston (Sept. 30) because of tepid pre-sales in a national promotion with Target stores.

The Memphis show has been pulled off the route and the status of the shows in Indianapolis, Houston and Oklahoma City remains uncertain. Industry speculation has it that much or all of the tour may be postponed. At the very least, it is likely routing and capacity will be reconfigured.
Third, they did well on their recent album but not "Dixie Chicks well"...

The album has sold 2,290,489 copies in the US as of July 11, 2007
But here's what they USED to do...

Quote:
Fly is the fifth album by American country band Dixie Chicks, released in 1999 (see 1999 in music). The album was very successful for the group receiving diamond status by the RIAA on June 25, 2002 in the USA, having shifted 10 million units.
That's 3.3 million PER YEAR for 3 years!...the recent album doesn't even have that in the FIRST year, when most albums are sold...By the time they get to 3 years, it MIGHT total 5 or maybe 6 mil...

And keep in mind that the Dixie Chicks are mainstream now and not country...They left the conservative country core and now has an audience that outnumbers just country...The reception should've been BIGGER based on that alone!...

As far as awards go, you know damn well they got their awards because of what they said and not what they've sung...In fact, both MTV and the ACLU gave them awards for exactly that...Nothing to do with music or anything, just "We agree with you...Here's an award."...

I don't deny they still got some support out there...But, as in your words, "rebounding, selling more albums, and getting bigger audiences"?...

Please...
