I started this thread for informational purpose to the "gay contingency" here, but I got to thinking...

"If I were gay, would I want this a-hole playing a role model in the gay community."...Personally, no way...

So the larger question is what I'm asking...

If you want to see a movie because of the storyline, will the actors/actresses influence your decision on whether or not to see it?...
To answer your second question first - yes. I already decided not to see Beowulf, because I don't want my money to support Jolie. I have problems with her taking a man away from his wife. Call it crazy, but I just can't push that aside to go watch a film she is probably superb in. However, I had no such qualms awhile back when Jack Nicholson left his old wife for a younger woman. Maybe he's already ingrained on the public conscience as an icon or maybe I don't equate it with her actions.
To answer your first question, although I can't speak for anyone who is gay, I don't know that Sean Penn is an asshole. I also don't know that he is not an asshole. To what are you referring?
