Re: New England town divided over yellow ribbons
Ali, that is the song that I associate it with too. I still remember in 1979 when that song played endlessly and millions of yellow ribbons were hung to symbolize support for the hostages in Iraq.
But I also remember hearing this song as a child.
Quote:
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
Around her neck
She wore a yellow ribbon,
She wore it in the springtime
And in the month of May.
And if you asked her
Why the heck she wore it,
She'd say "It's for my lover
Who is far, far away".
Refrain:
Far away!
Far away!
She wore it for her lover far away.
Around her neck she wore a yellow ribbon.
She wore it for her lover who is far, far away.
