Right now, we need to "throw the baby out with the bathwater" because the bathwater is killing the baby. The very right to chose that makes us strong is also destroying us due to the abuses of the people that the parties have put in place. It's time to flush the toilet that is Congress and start new.

The problem with rights is that people fail to recognize that they only come about as a result of the exercise of responsibilities. We (the American people) have failed in our responsibility to elect the people who are best for this nation and have abrogated the authority to choose our representatives to the Parties, forgoing our responsibilities for the sake of being being bribed with pork. Yes, I'd love it if we would all look honestly at the people we are voting for and start throwing out the culls, but that's not going to happen because the parties are the ones offering the choices and they have ONLY maintaining thier power base in mind and not this countries best interest. Enact term limits and you cripple the parties. Enact term limits and you get choices beyond what the parties spoonfeed you. Enact term limits and you get away from business as usual in DC.

FYI - WE DO NOT LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And for once, Wiki agrees with you.

The U.S. is a Federal Republic. That means that there is a federation of states with a republican form of government.

Unlike what many people expect, it is not a direct democracy. It is a representative democracy. WikiAnswers - What kind of government does the US have
