A president can serve more than 2 terms, but only can be elected for 2 terms...

Exceptions are when funky things happen like Nixon's resignation...And it has to be before being elected to a first or second term...

Ford was the president, and was legally allowed to serve another 2 full terms (if elected) AFTER serving out the rest of Nixon's term...

Clinton or either Bush serving as a vice-president with the intented or unintended consequence of the president leaving office and them jumping in is a no-go...
