The problem with the argument that democrats don't understand the economy is clear. Historically the economy has done better under democrats. In addition, the republicans fail to see that by spending dollars that were taxed, that money is going back into the economy and being sent through twice, meaning double benefit to the economy.

Taxes aren't bad for the economy as a whole, taxes are merely bad in certain cases. But, if we as a society want the government to do something, we have the responsibility to pay for it. We can't expect private industry to take care of the masses as it's private industry that's promoted the current economic crisis and past economic rapes of the American public.

There is a fine balance, and it takes a moderate like Bill Richardson to execute.
