What I find funny, is that how could all that extermination be going on at that level for years and not have average German's be more aware of it. Even after we discovered the camps and told German citizens of their existance, many refused to believe it. They couldn't fathom their government could participate in anything so horrific. And they continued to think that, until Eisenhower forced them to bury the dead.
As I said, it was the biggest secret. The German army knew themselves it was horrific but of course were still going ahead with it all. I was going to post a video of Ahmadinajad denying the Holocaust but that is way too disrespectful in the upcoming Memorial day.
You know how certain memories from your young years are vivid and others you can't remember at all? I remember an aunt, when I was about six years old, so that was around 1960, telling me how the Germans snatched her baby out of her arms, threw the baby up in the air and shot it. It was not something a six year old should have heard and my aunty's face, still raw with the horror of it all, was not something a six year old should have seen.
