Cause I've never heard him talk that way. In fact he always speaks with a lot of sense that I have heard. I don't agree with all of his views, but he seems to be the ideal conservative imho.

Nope, he's a strict isolationist with a belief that if we withdraw our military from around the world, hostile nations will see that as motivation to eschew terrorism and engage in meaningful negotiation. That is insane.
Maybe we never should have come to a point where world stability and what peace there is relies on our threat of and application of force, but that is where we find ourselves. Abandoning people we've promised to help protect is worse than insane, it is treacherous.
