Here's the thing... even though the odds are against you, the basic truth is that if you don't play you have a 0% chance of winning. If you DO play, you have at least *A* chance, however small it may be.

So, I play the lottery via a subscription, and when I'm in Vegas I play the slots because they're ****ing fun to play.

And I get free drinks.
