I like the curly bulbs and use them wherever I can. I have sympathy for rat's headaches though. I used to get them pretty bad in Texas. I had to have no light whatsoever when they were real bad. So bad they made me nauseous. But I found out I had sinus infections. Medication took care of it after I was prescribed correctly, but since I moved from an area I didn't know was prone to sinus infection (SE Tex) I haven't been bothered since.
But I can still relate. Can't you get them in a dimmer or colored bulb?
