Before you guys jump on the "it's propaganda" wagon, let me call your attention to the fact the article is from National Geographic. Now add that to your list of doom and gloom sources.

It's a scientific article. It doesn't promote any agenda. It's a here's-the-info-do-what-you-will-with-it type piece.
Maybe as some here suggested, it is a good thing. Maybe not. These people give us the tools to figure out what if anything is to be done.
