Modern lawmakers are not smart enough to make this decision. It's not that I think one side is wrong or right. This amendment -either to make it illegal or legal- is something that needs to be thought out for the other legal ramifications and repercussions as well as its affect on society.
And what scares me is the fact California exports its thinking to the rest of the states via big voter block influence on powerful people.
I think Governor Schwarzenegger was right to oppose it and I think Obama is right to oppose it. Now lets see if he is similarly opposed to Left leaning amendments to the marriage laws.

Even though he disagreed with it before...

If I told you "It's up to you" and then later say "You should choose the way "I" think", you'd call me a hypocrite 20 fold...and you'd be correct...
