Not only do we as a society tend to throw the baby out with the bath water, we sometimes drown it with bureaucracy.
Why can't judges take common sense into account anymore when they mete out sentencing? I mean, after all they are judges. Meant to judge the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

It's what I've always said - If you abuse your right, eventually, you will lose your rights. Our rights are too precious to be used irresponsibly and this kind of thing is just that - irresponsible use of one of our rights. Then, you'll hear the very people who were the biggest abusers screaming the loudest about losing thier rights.
