Reagan sold out his friends in Hollywood. As a union leader he had a vested interest in the blacklisting and HUAC smears, and did all he could to use it against his enemies in the union, especially the writers guild. He had to remove them in order to sell them out and end a strike at the time; he was close to a company that was a front for Meyer Lansky and his partners. There is a very questionable real estate deal around this time involving buying an acre of land for $2,000 and turning it over for a couple of million dollars, and suddenly Reagan is waving flags and denouncing 'Reds in Hollywood' like there was no tomorrow.
As for Nixon, one of his fellow Red baiters was Bobby Kennedy. And, as for terrorist connections and money trails, Hillary was a long time fund raiser and supporter for a 'Peace' group that supported PLO gangsters ever since her college days, I forget the name of it now, something like the 'World Peace Foundation or whatever, you can google it if you want, plus there is the gushy meeting with Arafat's wife, where she played huggy kissy with the vermin, and the $100,000 donation to her campaigns from the American Muslim Council, in which her campaign changed the name to 'American Museum Council', and when caught at this claimed it was a 'typo', never mind that is a ridiculous claim, as anyone with a keyboard can easily discern.
There is also the long time support right wingers in the oil business have given Saudis and every other nation that actively funds terrorist actions around the globe, and the coziness of Brown and Root, Haliburton, and long time Bush family business connections with Dresser Industries and other antisemetic Texas billionaires.
Both 'sides', i.e Dems and Republicans, are dirty here, up to their necks. I won't even go into the virulent antisemitism of the faux 'Peace Left'; the 'group think' idiocy involved there is just too silly to bother with. The rabid support Obama gets from young, white, and supposedly 'educated' liberal demographics has an easy explanation:

The trend is clear with a slight reversal in this decade. I looked at people who graduated during the 1950s and before, but I didn't list the scores since they are similar to the 60s cohort.
America is obsessed with educating everyone, regardless of ability, so admission standards have been lowered. A bachelors degree has not held its value over the years.
Fortunately, the mean score for those with advanced degrees has not fallen, but the mindless compulsion to educate more and more people will likely fix that. In my experience, the only thing keeping IQs up is that colleges cannot convince people below a certain IQ threshold to stay in school.
