I think it's more attributed to his impending Alzheimer's than to anything else.
What amazes me, about him and most other Republicans is that they can point out the "shortcomings in others", while generally being guilty of the self-same shortcomings.
Mc Cain wants to chastise Obama for foregoing public financing in lieu of private financing, while failing to admit that he was against offshore drilling, in the past, and now champions it, and seeks kudos for saying so.
If Obama is not to be taken at his word, then McCain even less so.
