As always, one's faith must be demonstrated in the evidence thereof. Its true, faith cometh by hearing, but this is only part of the equation. One must investigate that which he hears to see if such is indeed true. We are instructed to search the "SCRIPTURES" to see if these things are so. -- Acts 17:11. As indeed the truth of God is only to be found in His revealed words, as His words are stated to be true by the Christ himself -- John 17:17
There is no passage to be found in the entirety of the Holy Scriptures that states UNWRITTEN TRADITIONS or CUSTOMS or LEGISLATIONS of any formal religious organization are to be considered as the standard upon which to base our DOCTRINE OF FAITH. But, conversely so, the Holy Scriptures claim to be self sufficient to provide THE MAN OF GOD with EVERYTHING to make him PERFECT -- ll Tim 3:16-17. If one is made Perfect -- ll Tim 3:17, And lives under the grace of the "PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY" -- James 1:25, just what authority does one have to leave the Doctrine presented in the scriptures to search for FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE? For indeed if ALL TRUTH rests with the words presented to the Apostles of Christ via proxy of the Holy Spirit of Truth -- John 16:13, just what truth is to be found outside these words? For it is physically impossible for all truth to be presented more than once and confirmed as such again, as this truth is stated to have been 'ONCE DELIVERED' to the saints of the 1st century. -- Jude 1:3.
This indeed makes any "so called" revelations from God after the 1st century....a very CONVENIENT LIE. Such as the faith of Islam which claims that an angel of God presented them with "extra and true" revelation some seven centuries after ALL TRUTH had been revealed ONCE in the first century and delivered by the Apostles of Christ...who had been granted POWER FROM ON HIGH TO DO JUST THAT -- Acts 2:7-8.
And, in fact we are given this warning, "But though we, or an ANGEL from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you......LET HIM BE ACCURSED." -- Gal. 1:8
As always my intent is only to DEFEND THE TRUTH PRESENTED IN THE SCRIPTURES nothing more....nothing less. If I fail to do as much I not only deny my faith....but myself. Thanks. BD
