BATON ROUGE, La. — Castration could be a sentencing option for some sex offenders in Louisiana under a bill approved by a state Senate judiciary committee.
The bill by Senator Nick Gautreaux, an Abbeville Democrat, requires a judge to order treatment for certain second-offense sex criminals with a specific drug designed to diminish male sexual urges — if a medical expert agrees that the treatment would be effective.

I think a certain percentage of rapes are opportunistic sexual gratification. And another percentage is from the drunk and disorderly. But the main portion of repeat offenders suffer from a much more deep psychosis. It is for the most part a violent crime that is related to control/domination of another individual.
In short, I don't see how castration is going to help. If you are already mad at the world couldn't you as easily find another weapon? Or means of sexual dominance for that matter.
Also I don't like any form of mutilation. I didn't even get my ears pierced till I was 35 and have regretted it ever since. If I'd had a choice and knew what I know now I wouldn't have had any child circumcised. So, no. This seems screwy to me.
