Default Re: This is the Abortion Section

"Medically Necessary Abortions" ?

"Four years after California expanded legal abortion to include those for "physical and mental health," legal abortions skyrocketed from 7,000 per year to 116,749 per year. Over 90% of these abortions were for "mental health."

I can go along with abortions that are "truly" medically necessasary.Saving the life of the mother comes to mind.Such truely medically necessary abortions are relatively rare. Some prefer a much wider interpretation than I do.For example, the mother finds out that her little tryst produced a child that is not of her husbands lineage. Some would say this would be grounds to protect not only her marriage but also her mental health. I disagree and as usual the devil is in the details when we travel down the road to so called, medically necessary abortions.Until more physicians believe that the pre-born child has a right to life that is not superseded by the mother's temporary emotional or economic "inconvenience". I oppose abortion on demand!

In the case of rape, two innocent lives are affected. It is my hope that one day such dilemmas will be more easily solved by taking "the child" early as viability outside the womb becomes more and more plausible at earlier stages of life.

With the advent and use of the "Day After Pill"...fewer abortions will be "reported". I don't support this usage, especially among minors. It could be said that this new method will eventually defuse the abortion debate. Perhaps to some extent,it will do just that. However,it still involves the destruction of human life but some would continue to debate what I believe. It is my belief that human life begins at the moment of conception. They are welcome to oppose me on this belief but they will never change my viewpoint on this truth.

I greatly respect opposing viewpoints on this issue though I do not share them.I've been in numerous abortion debates and they can be very devisive.I have yet to see anyone completely change the minds of their opponents on this issue. At least,if they have changed their mind, they are too proud to admit it or they had a personal experience in life that this "admission" to being wrong would represent accepting the responsibility for a life lost. These things are very difficult to come to terms with. For some,it is much easier to remain in denial.Still, abortion does take it's toll, perhaps not right away but over time, we all contemplate our life's decisions and in that sense, the bell of atonement rings for us all.
