It would surprise me. Bush seems to have enough sense to stay out of issues that don't rise to the office of the President.
He knew better than to be 'Opiner in Chief'. Obama doesn't seem like he'll ever learn.
As for Bush having close ties with the Saudi's, well, it's not like he bowed down to them or anything if that's what you mean
