He was 24 when he belonged to the KKK...he quit after a few years...what ever his thougts were then, he clearly, over time changed and his record of actions reflect that.

Interesting though....if he was dyslexic. He was largely self-educated, as he had to go to work at an early age. I heard he got his law degree at the age of 70...he was someone who recognized his early views were wrong, and sought to change them.

More power to him. He did a lot of good to WV...and that is what a politician is supposed to do.

How many - now that Kennedy, Helms and others are gone...can say the same?

Seems all they care about now is fund raising and re-election.
