But that is not relevant to the question of whether they can divorce in Massachusetts. I know that some states allow divorce between couples that have very recently moved their legal residence from that state. But I looked it up and found that, in Mass., at least one spouse must be a current resident.

So MA will marry non-residents but demands that you are a resident to get a divorce. That sounds like a double standard to me.
