All of your attempts to sidetrack the discussion are meaningless in the face of this one inescapeble fact: If pot is legalized, then someone's life will be ended who would have otherwise lived. But you don't5 want to face this reality, you'd rather sit down with joint and get high and forget about little Suzie who just got hit by car because some twit went down to the store bought himself a couple of joints and dozed off at the wheel. This is the reality of adding one more method to our ever-growing list of stupid crap that people are being allowed to do in the name of personal freedom without responsibility.
I completely understand what you are saying here, but as several other posters have noted, it doesn't matter if it's legal or not, people are going to smoke pot/drink/take perscription drugs that incapacitate them, and therefore can be the cause of the death of someone.
But so can someone who is lucid, stone cold sober and never touched pot their entire life. Per haps it's cars we should ban? (tongue in cheek)
We will never be able to completely eliminate the danger to others from human beings, or non-human beings, for that fact.
At least it could be another tax revenue source.
