It dissappoints me though that most people (according to the article) say "My kid's not going to be heathy when delivered, so I'll just abort the thing now to save myself from the extra effort."...

That's so sad. As for your other point I get upset knowing down syndrome babies are aborted in droves. Especially since often times the test for down syndrome gives off a false positive, as in the case of my very own daughter who we thought might have down syndrome right up till birth when she came out and the midwife declared she was perfectly healthy. Spinabifida (sp?) is another one where babies are aborted often though technology has come a very long with correcting that and many suffering from it live full lives. Those abortions are upsetting because the reason behind them is to get a "better baby" without issues. In a case where the baby's absolute prognosis is "death" shortly after birth I can completely understand why a woman would opt to abort. I myself probably wouldn't for two reasons. One I don't completely trust drs. and know them to often be wrong and two an ill fated baby brought to term could in fact save another baby's life. But when thinking about the agony of carrying a baby for nine months with everyone knowing your pregnant and knowing the baby is destined to die shortly after birth I can completely understand opting to abort.
